Accommodating bursts in distributed stream processing systems

Requests in the secondary queue are concurrently scheduled with the primary queue, so that they can be immediately executed whenever the node has any processing power unused as the results of burst fluctuations.

In the recent years, many emerging on-line data analysis applications require real-time delivery of the streaming data while dealing with unpredictable increase in the volume of data.

In this paper we propose a novel approach for efficient stream processing of bursts in the Cloud.

It takes me two or three times as long as expected to perform simple tasks (like drafting documents that are standard in our field or corresponding with colleagues in order to organize projects).

I am generally running behind and disorganized, to the point where I have already missed deadlines and meetings.

Here are some key topics that I will be following closely because they have the potential to significantly impact our field.

Net Neutrality is no longer the policy of the land. That means that Internet Service Providers – as common carriers – can charge whatever rate they wish for data moving at whatever speed they deem best for their companies.Blockchain remains near the top of the list of transformative technologies for the administration and certification of higher learning.I find myself writing and speaking about blockchain often, but that is because it is really important that we keep up on this topic or we will be left behind (much like those colleges that ignored online learning until the last couple of years). This is particularly egregious since my responsibilities involve project management. My boss has – kindly and diplomatically – warned me that she will need to fire me if the situation doesn’t change soon.We have become accustomed to our classes being delivered at the same rate and fee as all other services such as You Tube and Hulu and other services.
